The second Thursday of the month at the fashionable Painted Lady in Toronto was home to a curated group of local psychedelic bands for a far out season. The scene had been percolating in the city’s indie underground for years. In name and spirit, Second Thursdays was an homage to the Art Gallery of Ontario’s First Thursdays. The night featured live bands every month in the heart of the gallery’s collection of fine art. As an homage to 60’s psychedelia, a series of illustrated posters with a silk-screened look were created, featuring hand-lettered typography. The poster designs were then animated to promote the evening online. The series was a standing room only success.
